Job Description

This position is responsible for creating favorable, front-line first impressions and exceeding visitors’ expectations. Duties include greeting visitors and selling tickets, museum store merchandise and organizational memberships. Selected candidate(s) will be expected to successfully convey the connection between our merchandise and Historic Pensacola. Store interpreters will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing sales transactions and providing excellent customer service. Selected candidate(s) will be expected to knowledgeably answer visitor questions. Store interpreters will also be trained to participate in living history interpretation if needed.

The position is 18-26 hours per week. Selected candidate(s) will be required to operate, open and close the Point of Sale (POS) system, answer the telephone and use a two-way radio to communicate with other staff. Selected candidate(s) will also be responsible for keeping the store tidy, being mindful of presentation and the safety of visitors. Store interpreters must comply with the established dress code and all operational policies and procedures of the UWF Historic Trust.

Hours of operation are Tuesday & Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Thursday – Saturday, 9:30 a.m.- 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Noon-4:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be a student enrolled for credit. Applicants may be a student at UWF or any other college or university. A student enrolled at an institution other than UWF must provide proof of attendance by submitting a registration/fee payment receipt from the school they will attend.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong communication skills and retail experience. In addition, marketing and merchandising experience as well as knowledge of Northwest Florida history are preferable.

Salary Range $8.40/hour
