Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Student Services for the Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC). This position is a member of the Student Services workgroup and is located in the Tallahassee office. This position is responsible for maintaining the quality of the student services offered by FLVC, through review, enhancement, testing and documentation of the applications and resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization with four (4) years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Higher education and post-secondary experience: Two years progressively responsible experience in student services, communications, training development, technical writing and public speaking in higher education related areas.
• Technical Writing: Demonstrated ability to research, write, edit and design end-user technical publications and other materials in print and electronic format.
• Ability to plan for, evaluate, and document user information needs, create informational materials suitable for a defined audience, and work collaboratively with the marketing department to create promotional and marketing materials/campaigns.
• Ability to develop online help and other user support features. Ability to present educational programs and/or workshops.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Excellent command of English language, grammar, and syntax.
• Knowledge of help authoring software, graphics software, publication layout and design.
• Ability to learn new products and grasp new techniques quickly.

Essential Functions

Description of Job Duty

Researches, develops, and writes quality content for training and technical user documentation following established standards. Create and implement online help and other end-user support using help authoring software as needed. Prepare print-ready and electronic materials as needed, using desktop publishing software and/or graphics programs. Prepare periodic statistical and narrative reports, as directed.

Description of Job Duty

Plans, manages, and coordinates internal and external activities for the Student Services workgroup, including the DLSS and FloridaShines website. Assists the Assistant Director with testing, product and event development, website changes, communications, including newsletters, presentations, exhibits, product and service announcements, and other internal and external Student Services activities as necessary.

Assists with the planning and implementation of the new DLSS initiatives. Recommends development, outreach and communication strategies and develops appropriate program related to new rollout plans. Develops documentation in support of the projects.

Implements meaningful tests and capture test results that provide the required product validation. Reviews systems and subsystems developed by other staff for conformity to standards and specifications. Identifies the most appropriate implementation approach for testing within the larger system test infrastructure. Works with technical staff to investigate issues reported by system users.

Coordinates modification of Common Program prerequisites manual and posting to website one to two times a year. This involves extensive communication with Department of Education’s staff. Provides technical support to participants in pilot projects for new functionality on system.

Assist with the DLSS website content and strategy, and execute changes as requested with required software. Develops a social media and external communication approach. Ensures ongoing customer communications through multiple channels.

Performs work in support of business processes and projects. Performs time-sensitive tasks and meets established deadlines; maintains effective communications with appropriate FLVC staff; maintains effective working relationships to ensure the success of the business processes and projects.
