Job Summary

The Coordinator for Athletic Marketing & Sales manages and implements all athletics related marketing, promotions and corporate sponsorships. This position reports to the Association Athletic Director. This position solicits sponsors and generates sponsorship revenue.
Duties include generating revenue through the integrated packaging of inventory and assets; creating and coordinating all phases of a comprehensive marketing and promotions plan including corporate sponsorships, advertising, and signage, radio/print/internet exposure; oversight of departmental group ticket sales. Supervise spirit squad adviser, pep band adviser, and mascot. Direct game operation functions and promotions. Manage unit budget appropriately and diligently with a focus on meeting targeted goals. Work closely with all departments (media relations, operations, development, and business office) to ensure that activities and strategies are centrally coordinated and executed in a manner consistent with departmental, University, and state policies and procedures and consistent with Gulf South Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Position will also work to maintain relationships with clients for future sales and represent the Athletics Department to the public with courtesy and diplomacy. This position requires a valid drivers license.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Proven experience in securing sponsorships. Excellent written and verbal skills. Proficient in public speaking. Maintain a valid drivers license.

Essential Functions

Sponsorship and Corporate Sales: Solicit, develop, negotiate, coordinate and steward corporate sponsorships. Identify potential partners and act as the lead in prospecting, cultivating sponsors and closing agreements. Establish and maintain records for tracking, renewal and fulfillment purposes. Organize and manage invoicing and receivables. Work with sponsors to leverage the UWF Athletics brand and image locally, regionally and nationally. Manage a portfolio of sponsors to secure an cash and in-kind sponsorships.

Description of Job Duty

Marketing and Promotions: Annually develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and promotions plan to maximize revenue, exposure, and attendance for all programs. Responsible for sponsor fulfillment through marketing channels (signage, online, promotions, etc.). Develop campaign and promotional themes and corresponding design collateral. Coordinate the distribution of marketing materials to sponsors, area businesses and university departments. Create and place television, radio, and newspaper advertising spots including media trade-out program to promote selected sports or initiatives. Develop and oversee in-game promotions. Direct game operation functions as they pertain to marketing, including writing game day scripts, sponsor fulfillment, message boards, music/band coordination and spirit squads. Develop and oversee student and community outreach and act as the liaison to internal groups (SGA, spirit squad, band, student-athlete community service) and external groups (sponsors, Argie’s Kids Club, Argo Armada student group, etc.). Develop a multichannel communications plan to promote and market UWF Athletics to all constituencies.

Supervision: Supervise the marketing graduate assistant to oversee game promotions, spirit squad adviser, independent sales contractors, interns, game-day personnel. Assist with hiring, mentoring, providing leadership and evaluating performance. Schedule workers for office hours, events, etc.

Administration: Serve on University and departmental committees where appropriate. Game day administrator for select home games, conference and NCAA events. Adhere to all departmental, University, State of Florida policies and procedures. Follow all Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics or the University of West Florida.
