Job Description

This position provides computer hardware and software technical support to the students and staff of the Department of Housing & Residence Life. This position is for 15-20 hours a week depending on work load.

Responsibilities include:

-Responding to a problem for the purpose of diagnosing and repairing computer & network related issues for Housing Staff and resident students
-Providing customer service and end user support to over 1,800 on-campus residents. This includes education on the proper technical, legal, and ethical use of the computer network in the residence halls and apartments.
-Work professionally with the ITS department and communicating regularly on all network issues related to ResNet.
-Respond to an online work order system ensuring that adequate details are provided about the issues, problems, and resolutions. Resolving IT/Cable issues in a timely manner. If necessary, problems or issues are escalated or redirected to the appropriate resource.
-Providing education to students and staff related to computer security, virus protection, and the legal and ethical use of ResNet and University policies.
-Setting up Department owned computers with UWF sanctioned hardware and software.
-Maintaining a professional appearance and work ethic.
-Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be a student enrolled for credit. Applicants may be a student at UWF or any other college, university or high school. A student enrolled at an institution other than UWF must provide proof of attendance by submitting a registration/fee payment receipt from the school they will attend.  

Preferred Qualifications

Skills and qualifications:
-Preferred education and work experience in information technology, computer information systems, management information systems, computer science, engineering technology, or networking and telecommunications or any other related field.
-Must possess knowledge and advanced techniques with productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
-Must have thorough knowledge of operating systems including Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X. Must have excellent working knowledge of both PC and Macs equally.
-Be familiar with Internet protocols such as static and dynamic IP addressing, and using terminal commands to obtain network information.
-Be able to lift at least 25 pounds of equipment.
-Applicant must have a UWF Overall GPA of 2.5 or higher (no exceptions).
-Must be in good financial standing with all UWF Departments (no outstanding debts) and must be clear of judicial conduct sessions.
-Must be willing to work flexible hours in anticipation of high demand time periods (opening weeks, special projects, etc). Average weekly hours is 15-18.

Salary Range $8.10 per hour
