Job Summary

The University of West Florida Department of Research and Advanced Studies (RAS) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Research and Advanced Studies with strong quantitative skills in advanced statistical analyses and psychometrics. This is a nine-month tenure earning faculty position with an expected start date of January, 2018.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in the field of educational research, educational statistics, educational measurement, applied statistics, or a closely related discipline with extensive training in quantitative and mixed methods and a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.  

Preferred Qualifications

An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in the field of educational research, educational statistics, educational measurement, applied statistics, or a closely related discipline with extensive training in quantitative and mixed methods.. Transcripts should ascertain that the candidate has the requisite courses to qualify under the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accreditation requirements to teach Quantitative Research and Mixed Methods courses.

Applicants should also have a minimum of 3 years working experience in teaching within a higher education setting. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience with educational measurement and advanced statistical methodologies, planning and carrying out research and evaluation studies, and demonstrate an active research agenda and record of scholarly achievement (publications and/or conference presentations) in education and/or quantitative research methods. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate an active research agenda, have a strong publication records (commensurate with experience), and demonstrate the potential to obtain external funding.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to actively support dissertations by serving as chair and/or member of doctoral committees, participate in purposeful mentoring, and contribute to UWF’s status as a Carnegie Community Engaged university. Candidates will be expected to teach graduate courses in introductory and advanced quantitative and mixed methods educational research courses, in both face-to-face and online environments; engage in program/curriculum development; and serve on university, college, and department committees. Experience with serving as chair of doctoral dissertation committees and supervision is expected. Evidence of a commitment to diversity is also expected.

Other desirable qualifications include:
• Experience working in P-12 schools and/or higher education institutions;
• Evidence of successful teaching at the college level. Preference will be given to candidates able to develop and/or apply innovative methods that address important issues directly relevant to educational policy and practice.

Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach other courses offered in the department.
