Job Description

Provide support for computer lab patrons in the form of technical assistance with technology/computer hardware and software. Monitor the computer lab, resolve computer problems and address user’s questions. Assist users with scanners, printers, media conversion, audio visual and 3D printing equipment.

•Be courteous and accommodating to all of the patrons of the Skylab.

•Effectively listen to and respond to patron inquires.

•Provide users with basic assistance in using software applications and refer users to reference materials when appropriate.

•Be able to answer common questions without referring to instructions.

•Troubleshoot problems with hardware/software and relay issues that you cannot resolve to the lab manager, systems administrator or ITS.

•Sweep the lab at least every half hour in order to make your presence known, and better assist the students.

•Coordinate with the Circulation Department in regards to opening/closing procedures.

•Keep daily statistics on lab/equipment and save the Excel file in the proper folder every night at closing.

•Document any user feedback regarding hardware/software, and notify the Skylab manager via email.

•Keep chairs pushed in when not in use and the desktop areas clean and organized.

•Clean tables; straighten up keyboards, mice and monitors before closing.

•Keep monitor screens cleaned – especially the Mac’s!

•Keep track of Equipment loans, and make sure the keys to the case are secure at all times.

•Answer telephone calls with proper greeting.

•Assist with library multimedia projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be a student enrolled for credit. Applicants may be a student at UWF or any other college or university. A student enrolled at an institution other than UWF must provide proof of attendance by submitting a registration/fee payment receipt from the school they will attend.

Preferred Qualifications

Up-to-date computer software skills and excellent customer service skills, as you will be working directly with students in a shared learning environment which includes a computer classroom, lab, and multi-media center. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic and previous experience in customer service/retailing will also be beneficial.

Salary Range $8.10 to $8.25/hour
